Donny Hathaway dont need no fucking release date

everything is everything

my nigga dont need your damn pr campaigns or email forwards n shit. he aint droppin a new freestyle everyday and actually he aint even got a huge catalog. but the few songs that he has are probably more urgent than anything anybody will ever record.

extensions of a man

nah aint no donny hathaway tribute parties or nothing in honor of, but that dont matter. pressing play on any of his albums is a party for me. shit i have spun back LOVE LOVE LOVE 10x’s in a row and i expect to do so 10 more times. not to mention all of the samples, interpolations and imitations of the songs he has recorded

live 1972

you know those dilla changed my life shirts? well donny saved my life, literally. i wont go into detail about it but if i can do for somebody what he did for me then i feel like i have served my purpose here.

*gasp* we are here >< !!! When Common said “It’s like Donny Hath’ helped me see Lonnie’s path” HE WAS NOT PLAYIN!!

The passion, pain, persistence, heart, determination, blood, sweat, tears, etc. etc. BREATHHEEE through that mans music. You can hear it all in each note. That ish clings to your soul. Donny is ______(I can’t even think of a word to describe how fantastic he is)!!!!

And PLEASE BELIEVE the TRUTH in your music is felt too.

I feelz u on the Donny Hathaway love. A very dope singer indeed. And Lalah ain’t no slouch either.

On a totally unrelated note, I’m out and about viewing your blog on my iPhone and sir, its looking a little mangled in MobileSafari. You might want to see if there’s a plugin or something for the blog software that you’re using that helps with rendering for mobile browsers….just a heads up…..

  3. i think u should tell us how he saved your life….on my iphone i cant comment, it takes me to sitemeter

  4. UltraMag says:

    Agreed.

Thought provoking, emotion evoking… His level of impact on other artists and fans in general is truly remarkable, considering that he passed at such a young age.

  5. Yvette says:

Yo I just finished schooling my former neighbor/summer roomies on him. They came home with the new Layla joint and didn’t know who her father was. Just said she sang back up on American Idol. I was like oh, let me put you on to the legacy.

He can def get u thru the rough spots if you listen right. Amy Crackhouse claims there’s nothing in rehab she can’t learn from “Mr. Hathaway.” Well, she needs to re-listen for real.
