On November 17th of 2008 I made this very simple post and didn’t say much else for months. I claimed it was in order to be about action and not talk but I think it was more because I talk while I think a lot of times. It’s sort of akin to the way a person speaks before they think but its more rooted in my gemini ways than anything.
The album has underwent several changes since my decision to make it and ultimately was pushed back roughly 13 months. Considering that I began working on it in July of 2008 and its in stores today that is nothing at all to scoff at. From a self produced free EP to a full blown retail release with a host of guest artists and producers I must say its been a helluva ride getting to this point. See the thing about this album is it started as an exercise in boredom, just trying something new. I was gonna do a few beats, rap over em, design the cover and release it on my blog as like a Valentines day thing or maybe my annual ‘Birthday Present’ but as my vision became more complete my idea changed a bit. I’m happy with what I ended up with tho.
I will be perfectly honest with you, I didn’t enjoy making this album. It wasn’t really an easy thing to do. From mustering the gumption to be this vulnerable to actually dealing with the back end shit it was something that I remember very arduous and uncomfortable. With that said I learned a lot and if I know anything its that the lesson is always the most valuable part of the experience.
If you know anything about me you know that I am working on something else by now. Stuff I’ve talked about, stuff I haven’t talked about, just stuff. As an artist I just create and I court my ideas heavily. Some I get infatuated with enough to discuss and others I just flirt heavily with to see if anything happens and never speak of them. We’ll see what happens in a few months.
I could go on and on about this but for once I’ll let the music speak for itself.
Enjoy!
