The Almanac of Rap Won A Webby Award!

I can’t believe that I get to type this but The Almanac of Rap is now a Webby Award Winning podcast!

You’ve seen it happen at award shows countless times. Somebody wins and takes the stage only to say ‘man i had no idea this was gonna happen’ and proceeds to fumble through a speech that they barely prepared if at all? Well, that’s me. Right now.

I 100% thought that i wasn’t winning this. This show wasn’t made at a big studio, it was written in my notes app and recorded in my apartment in the silences between sirens and train sounds. At best I thought I could milk it and make a fake Webby award to film myself for a bit on Instagram but here we are… with a fucking Webby award! So while unfortunate that there is no need for my shenanigans I do still want to thank everyone who helped make this show with me so here goes:

Lindsey Caldwell for putting me in a position to even have the opportunity to do the work.

Saidah Blount & Ashia Palmer for being the fucking DREAM TEAM duo and believing in my silly ideas

Dana Wachs for going above and beyond to make the show sound amazing.

Mark Yoshizumi for making the intro bang and sage audio wisdom

Von Pea for the musical compositions and years of brotherhood.

Allan Cole for the visual branding and kick ass portraits.

And the whole team at Sonos Radio for giving me a shot and all that shadow assistance as well.

And thank you to all the guests and people who gave their time and energy to the show. Thank you to everyone who listened to the show and felt compelled to vote for a thing that they enjoyed. This award is for us.

Past winners include Song Exploder, Disgraceland, Dissect, Mogul, Questlove Supreme and a pretty damn impressive list of others and I am truly honored to be mentioned in the same breathe as them.

Okay now it’s time to go work on season two!
